Watch 2 Weeks in Lagos on Prime Video and Netflix
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
To tell a unique love story from a different perspective and give the audience a glimpse into a contemporary Nigeria city.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
It is different from anything you see in cinemas today. It is a very well-told story that you can identify with and the characters are realistic.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
We are products of our universe and in our everyday lives, the personal and the universal are intimately linked and that is the way it works in the film.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
We started out by just focusing on the love story of Lola and Ejikeme and then we evolved to the point where we had to delve more into the motivations of Ejike's mother to give her character more depth.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
We have had very positive feedback on the film. The fact that it is a love story sprinkled with politics, religion and culture is one of the things people comment very favourably about.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
The feedback reinforces my point of view that we need more realistic storytelling that allows us to showcase our individual uniqueness.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
Awareness and content sales.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
Buyers.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I would like this film to make every young person rethink all they currently know about love. I will like the film to be received as a globally impactful film.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Would you accept a proposal from someone you have only known for 2 weeks?
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
A Cord of 3 Strands (feature film)
Naicana (tv series)
2 Weeks in Calgary (feature film)
