LIFE’S A DRAG Written, Directed, Produced, Edited by Kate D'hotman

LIFE’S A DRAG is a 17 minute film about a zombie with an existential crisis breaks all the rules in search of love in a dark comedy about the meaning of "life after death." Password protected. Kate D'hotman writes:

Think: The Office meets Warm Bodies. Admit it, you already want to see it!

It’s funny, it’s heart-warming and pretty unique. Everyone thinks the “zombie thing” has been done to death (excuse the pun) but this film tackles the genre from an entirely fresh perspective. You’ve got blood and guts, office politics and a bit of romance, all in one short comedy - what more could you want?

Munchies - Zombie Lee has an outrageous hunger that won’t be silenced by food alone. With his growing need to feed increasing, misjudgment and disaster arise in the kitchen, until a simple solution is found. And his rumbling is quenched. Length: 2.21 minutes. Password protected. Writer/Director Sinead Stoddart:

I wanted to convey that not all animation is cartoonish or ‘kiddy’ as some might believe. I have gone to a few film festivals where the animation is separated from short films because of the childish nature in the design but actually the animation has an adult nature towards the narrative. That is why I enjoy the work of Jan Svankmajer, the Brothers Quay and Robert Morgan as their work challenges the Uncanny and cements animation within the horror genre.

MY BROTHER IS A ZOMBIE Written and Directed by Russell Yaffe

MY BROTHER IS A ZOMBIE Written and Directed by Russell Yaffe

MY BROTHER IS A ZOMBIE is a short kids drama about Abigail's younger brother, Norman, who is the most annoying brother in the world - plus, he's a zombie! When Abigail gets fed up with taking care of him, she makes a decision that could change their relationship forever. Length: 9 minutes. Watch on Video: https://vimeo.com/137209286

Writer/Director Russell Yaffe writes:

I’ve been surprised at times by how much laughter the film draws out in some of our screenings. While comedy is certainly a part of the film, I always imagined it was more tongue-in-cheek and underplayed, but we’ve had some screenings with raucous laughter at every gag.

On the flip side, I always hoped that our story could be received as a metaphor for any type of exclusion, but I’ve been surprised by the breadth of ways viewers have connected to the film – from those who have read our zombie as a symbol for people who have been ostracized due to their race, to seeing his story as an allegory for depression.

Zombriella - Writer/Director Benjamin Gutsche

Zombriella - Like many 8 year old boys, Miko often wakes up in the middle of the night. Haunted by the creatures of his nightmares, he jumps out of his room and sneaks in to his mother’s bed to hide under her blanked, were he is safe from the monsters… In Miko’s nightmares it’s zombies, who totter around mumbling incomprehensible noises, screaming and coming dangerously close to him. Especially little Zombriella follows the boy doggedly. Length: 15 minutes. Watch on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/197608506

Writer/Director Benjamin Gutsche:

I wanted to make this kind of adventure movie for kids since I started to work as a director. I grew up with the 80s family movies like E.T., The Goonies and The Neverending Story. I love how they mix up real life drama with fantasy elements. The stories are bigger than life and the reason why I’m going to the movies. To me watching a movie is always an escape from the real world.

And the other reason why I wanted to make a Zombie Movie for kids is because I don’t know any other movie where the little ones can watch a Zombie adventure without being scared for the rest of their life. Every child knows what a Zombie looks like. They want to see them

Producer Tamika Lamison:

We made the film, ‘The Black Ghiandola’ all because of Anthony Conti. Make A Film Foundation’s mission is to grant film wishes to children who have serious or life-threatening medical conditions by teaming them with noted writers, actors, directors and producers who help them to create short film legacies. Anthony Conti was a 16 year old filmmaker with very aggressive stage 4 Cancer. He reached out to us because he had heard of our organization and he wanted to write and star in his own Hollywood Horror (Zombie) Film. His personal story was so compelling and his passion and desire so profound that we felt really compelled to help him fulfill his dream.
