Flipping The Script: When Parents Fight Back
Few know that children already in remission from cancer are forced by doctors into long term (2-4 year) chemotherapy - mostly to horrendous consequences. But parents are fighting back. They are demanding better. And they are finding a way through where none has been found before.

Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
It was born out of necessity, really. Parents were calling me after my first documentary Cancer Can Be Killed and asking me why their children were being forced into 2-4 years of chemotherapy if cancer could be treated naturally without toxins. At first I tried to help them, but was horrified to find out the system really doesn’t give parents rights over their children’s medical choices when it comes to cancer. And nobody on the medical side wanted to do anything different than a protocol that was destroying kids’ organs, causing brain damage or causing relapse and death. While filming we had to find the answer to the riddle of how to legally protect these children . . . IN THE USA. I couldn’t believe it. But we found the answer, the way out, and it had to do with finding attorneys and doctors willing to put their necks on the line for these children.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
It’s gripping. Just watch the trailer or the first 5 minutes of the film. You won’t be able to put it down. Viewers tell me they couldn’t believe how uplifting it was yet how much they laughed and cried through the whole thing.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
I am definitely trying to tap into universal themes. My personal themes are healing and going on quests to find a better way. The universal theme I’m trying to tap into is love, protecting children, questioning authority, going below the surface, real science, and civil rights.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
Holy Smokes, we started with two families and a dilemma and - slowly over 4 months - we just kept following the bread crumbs until we got the answers. Eventually we found doctors, other families who had success, politicians. It’s so scary because you never know if you have enough until you get to editing, but we tried to make sure we got answers to all the questions around the film.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
They laughed, they cried, they were uplifted. But best of all they came away wanting to know how to do more to change the system that is currently killing children. One viewer asked me when we were going to picket some of the forced chemo providers.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
I have only been surprised by some members of the media such as a Los Angeles Times editor I know, who are unwilling to deal with the issue. Sadly there are a lot of myths out there about medicine and doctors, that somehow they have the best for us. The truth is they are in business to make money and the FDA protects patent holders of drugs rather than testing or looking for non harmful treatment methods. There’s plenty of clinical evidence to the contrary, but nobody wants to turn down the drug money to reveal it.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
I just hope people watch this film and start spreading the word that we are being lied to. And if our government and the medical profession won’t protect children, what else are they lying to us about.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
I definitely need organizations that promote health to get this word out so we can change the landscape. That includes journalists, film festivals, and any organization that wants a better way for all human beings.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I hope that we get a seat to testify in congress and before the Supreme Court. We do not have medical freedom right now. We’ve all lost somebody to cancer . . . NEEDLESSLY. Once people understand that, we can stop the practice of health care just being about the almighty dollar.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Why do doctors force long term chemotherapy on children without testing anything else?
Would you like to add anything else?
The theme in a nutshell is NO TESTING, NO MANDATE. It’s really unconscionable that anyone is allowed to force poison into a child for 3 years without testing anything else. Especially since we know natural cancer treatment is already working for adults
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
One of the things heavy chemotherapy does is destroy the body. Doctors have no interest in helping children or adults recover from the horrendous side effects of toxic treatments. All they want to do is prescribe more medication. So there seems to be another immediate need to get the knowledge of how to detoxify and restore the body to health after this ordeal. Fortunately there are a select few integrative and functional medicine practitioners who are on the front lines of repairing these children’s bodies. That is the next project . . . to show the methods and supplements that restore a body after chemo.
