Stories of Wolves - The Lobo returns
Wolves - the vanishing Wildness inside and outside of us.
Interview with Writer/Director/Editor Elke Duerr
Watch Stories of Wolves - The Lobo returns here:
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
As you learn in the film, my ancestors eradicated the last wild wolves near my home town for “our safety”. I vowed back then as a little girl to bring them back from extinction.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
We all have a wild side, our untamed nature is just under the surface of ourselves. Without wilderness and wild animals, life is boring and predictable. Wolves gave us our best friend, the dog. We all belong in the WEb of life.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
I have always felt that if we eradicate everything and everybody wild and nonconformist, we limit the expressions of life on this planet. Just because wolves are not like dogs and do their own instinctual thing does not mean that they don’t have a place on this earth.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
From being about what we humans are doing to eradicate the wild wolves from the landscape I went to why we need them on this planet with us and to featuring humans who have found a way to coexist with hem. Also, the children came on board in an unplanned way, wanting to share their very own wolf stories of love and coexistence.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
Very good feedback! The audience loves this film and is very emotionally engaged in it while watching. It has garnered multiple awards and has traveled around the world.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
Not at all. I was hoping that the wolves would have gained in the hearts of many by now. The old stories of the big, bad wolf are obsolete right now…
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
Right now is a time of increased consciousness of the issues at hand among the general public regarding our Earth. The more exposure the wolves get, the better for their recovery and for coexistence among humans and wild animals. I live to dispel old myths and outdated stories and We are moving stories is a good platform for my films.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
Buyers, journalists, distributors, whoever is not afraid of the big, bad wolf.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
It has traveled in film festivals extensively, but the issue of poaching and killing them legally and illegally is still alive today. We need to reach more human hearts with our message, especially in wolf country.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Do you want the next generations to have a chance to see or hear a wolf in the wild?
Would you like to add anything else?
Thank you! This film is a labor of love for me. My biggest wish is to see the wolves and other wild animals stay here on this planet with us without the confinement of a zoo or park.
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
Messages from the Animals. A series of videos about what wild animals need from us humans to do their job on this earth and to thrive.
