I Think She Said Her Name Was
When a mysterious woman hands a stranger a violin, strange events begin to unfold.
Interview with Writer/Director/Producer Zev Howley
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
I made this film because I wanted to do something completely different than my previous films. I also always wanted to make a comedy.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
As a member of the audience you should watch this because its good fun and it's quite an experimental short film, it has some very funny moments and its what I call a feel-good short film.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
My personal and universal themes in this film really come from my background in the arts. I wanted to show how healing creativity and art can be in the world and be a real force for good. The power of art, The power playing music to people. The effects it has on all of us.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
The script and film started as an idea like somebody doing a vlog about his strange experiences it then evolved into this funny fantasy comedy with added scenarios. A lot of the vlog that Howard did to camera was improvised and we recorded it over and over again until we were happy with it.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
I have had some terrific feedback people really love the film and are often surprised with the originality of the idea.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
The feedback has encouraged me to make more comic short films. I was surprised by the laughter of the audience when it has played.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
To make more people aware of this film, and get more views for this film on YouTube.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
Film festival directors, sales agents and journalists.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
A really positive impact, an uplifting experience.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
The importance of art in our culture.
Would you like to add anything else?
With this film a lot of the cast never acted before and some of the cast had disabilities. I made the decision to give people a chance in being apart of a film and I was very pleased with the result.
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
I am writing a science fiction film called Lovesand.
