Watch Three Feet Deep here:
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
I wanted to find a way to inspire change in the world yet still cater to my crime thriller genre desires. Poignant films can be entertaining too right?!
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
Three Feet Deep is a film noir inspired crime thriller that captivates at every turn and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Not only does it entertain you, it holds up a mirror to you and begs the question “what would you do in this situation?”.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
The key theme is responsibility. The responsibility of your choices. The responsibility of the life you lead. The responsibility of your impact on society.
Some believe that we are who we are and lead the lives that we lead due to circumstances out of our control that have brought us to this point. Though we cannot control the things that happen to us, we can certainly choose how we will react and what decisions we will make moving forward.
The main character in this story struggles with a moral dilemma of reporting something that he’s seen but risking going to prison himself as a result. He believes that it’s not his responsibility and that he’s doing nothing wrong by staying silent. What he doesn’t realise is that he’s part of a larger problem and if he just made a different choice, he could save lives, including his own. One person can truly make a difference.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
We’ve had an amazing reception so far with compliments for the script, cinematography, music score and sound design. The performances have also been applauded. One consistent piece of feedback we’ve received is that the film’s message has come across clearly despite the entertaining package we’ve wrapped it up in.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
I made this film so I could spread a message. A message that I hope reaches far and wide and one that I have faith will inspire others.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
Anyone and everyone! I would love for this film to be screened in front of as many people as possible and shared through as many avenues as possible.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I would like the film to empower its viewers to think twice before turning a blind eye to some of the problems we have in the world. We often hear “I’m just one person, what could I do?”. Sometimes, all it takes is just one person to make a difference.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
What is the biggest moral dilemma you have ever had to face?
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
Aside from doing the festival circuit for Three Feet Deep over the coming months, I’m currently writing season one of a web series on cyberbullying titled “Trolls Anonymous” and I’m working on my first animated short titled “Sharenting” which is about parents who overshare information about their children on social media.
