IFS Film Festival - The Perfect Family
THE PERFECT FAMILY is the story of two sisters looking to create the perfect family for themselves by way of taxidermy.
Interview with Writer/Director/Producer Ron Oscar Sierra
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
Couple of reason, the first was because I wanted to create something for myself to show my writing and directing ability and secondly it was time for me to stop writing for others and do for myself. The feeling of an idea that starts in your head then seeing it come to life on the screen is AMAZING!
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
This film is very entertaining and will have you asking a ton of questions on your way out the theater. You want to know all about the characters life, backstory, their futures and what are these characters day to day life like. This is a great date and water cooler film.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film? The personal and universal theme is Secret Lives. We all can think of someone in our lives (neighbor, co-worker, sibling) that we suspect have a whole other life that we don’t know about whether we say it jokingly or not.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
The idea of the film from script to screen changed in the written location idea and because I forgot to get a shot during filming it changed just a little but not enough to drive me nuts.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
Amongst all audience members the overwhelming feedback is, “I want more!” I hear that from everyone that watches the film and I love hearing that feedback from people because it lets me know that I’m on to something great! Well I take that back not everyone, I have heard from one person that it was too predictable and lacked substance but hey I can’t win them all.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
I don’t want to sound cocky but I wrote it for people to want more, to want to see a feature length version of the short.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
I want to build a of following and bring awareness to my film. I have this thought of doing a crowd funding campaign for the full length version of the film and having a “crowd” to help out wouldn’t hurt at all.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
I for sure need a name Producer to help me get the word out on this film to studios, agents, and distributors. Also having journalists is always needed and wanted.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I want the same impact and reception of the film “Get Out”. That film sparked so much conversation from everyone all over the world and that isn’t so bad.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
What do you think happened to these characters that has them the way they are? That’s the question that will spark debate and conversations that will have people wanting more.
Would you like to add anything else?
When doing this film I wanted to have strong female lead characters. Having female characters that aren’t playing the typical female role for a film like this speaks volumes across the film world. These girls are outstanding.
What are the key creatives developing or working on now?
I’m currently working on the original idea from which this short film spark from and a drama that happened around the same time.
