Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
Thank you! The film is about on-line bullying, which is so common these days. I wanted to make a statement - on how trolls and nasty online comments can have an effect on people.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
Because it’s relevant to today and pretty relatable. Also, if you troll, hopefully it will make you think twice.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
It’s a film about bullying and depression, so those are pretty universal.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development and production?
I made this so quick, I didn’t have time to change anything or think. I basically shot the film on the day of the Tropfest deadline and I only had an hour to do it. I honestly didn’t think I’d get in, but so glad I did!
What type of feedback have you received so far?
No one has seen it yet! It will premiere at Tropfest 2017.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
Hopefully the feedback will be positive.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
I hope it makes more people watch it!
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
No one, really. I just want people to watch it at Trop.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I’d love it to have an impact on the way people communicate to each other on-line. This culture of on line trolls is so acceptable now and it’s terrible. Think before you troll, people.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Why do people feel like they can bully on line?
Would you like to add anything else?
Watch ‘Diary of a Youtuber’ Saturday 11th Feb!
What projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
I’m developing new work - just writing at the moment.
Interview: January 2017
