The Unvisited
An old couple in a spooky mansion enjoys sharing the twilight of their lives but yearns to be visited by their neglectful daughter before it’s too late. Oh well, at least they’ve got cats.

Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
Thanks! There's such an emphasis on our differences lately that it's easy to forget that we are more alike than not. With THE UNVISITED I wanted to make a simple, silly and relatable film everyone could enjoy.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
It's fun! It portrays characters rarely seen in TV/film without making that the focus of the story and, in a lighthearted way, explores universal themes. Plus, our locations are rather stunning and the music (composed by Zak Millman) is a character of its own .
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
The idea came to me one day while imagining myself older and living in my dream house (for me, that's a haunted, PSYCHO look alike house), I suddenly became vividly aware that my partner and I would eventually die, and that one of us would go first. I built the story around the themes of happily growing older, the fear of losing one's partner, and the desire to be reunited with one's family.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
The film is very short and pretty much came out of my mind instantly and onto paper, and not much has changed since then. The duet scene was initially going to be a song and dance, but I decided to cut the musical aspect out and make it simpler. The couple was not originally written as queer, but since the two best performers during the audition were women -- and because they had such great chemistry -- it naturally became one.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
Audiences laugh out loud and chuckle. I've heard a lot that the lighthearted aspect is quite a relief in these times. And audiences seem to appreciate that the protagonists are an elderly queer couple without their sexuality being a theme of the short but simply a natural part of who they are
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
I hope it reaches a broader audience!
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
Journalists, festival directors and distributors would be very welcome at this stage to keep reaching audiences far and wide.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I want it to move and make people laugh and maybe -- if I were to be very optimistic -- could make people more accepting of differences and accept that love simply is love.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Can there be humour in death?
Would you like to add anything else?
Thank you for supporting independent film!
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
I’m working on a short film about a six-year-old who misunderstands a conversation she overhears and becomes convinced that her half-sister lives in the sea and becomes determined to find her. I am also developing my first feature film which is a psychological horror/thriller. I'm looking for a producer for both. I'm also writing several works of prose.
