Interview with Writer/Director/Producer/Animator Alexandria Siah
Watch The End here:
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
We made it for our Ringling College of Art and Design senior thesis.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
It's a comedic film with lots of related aspects to anyone who has ups and downs in their relationships yet loves their significant other nonetheless. It also shows women's empowerment and that women can be both strong and cute at the same time.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
I love medieval and fairytale themes in storytelling and love being able to showcase the good and bad sides of having too much love. Love can make one stupid but also make them strong and that's the main theme of The End.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
It evolved a lot over the development stage and was started as a queen trying to do good deeds to avoid the guillotine, but time-wise it was not convincing enough and it ended up changing to a knight and his overly strong princess.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
Most people I know really love the film and I'm really grateful for it.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
I hope that more people get to see it as it took a lot of blood sweat and tears to make. Being able to showcase my work and watch people's reactions to it makes all the hard work worth it.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I hope it makes someone's day, and maybe inspires others to pursue animation as well.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
What scene in a film was this animated short inspired by? The answer is Prince Edward being run over by bicycles in Enchanted.
Would you like to add anything else?
I hope that people will enjoy the film and if you could share it, it will mean the world to me! Thank you!
