Unforgotten
A grieving woman opens her home to the man she still loves and relies on her art and imagination to heal her trauma.
Interview with Writer/Director/Producer/Editor/Actor Floriane Andersen
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
Initially, this film was part of a healing process, A catharsis through the arts. Having myself been healed by the power of certain art forms, I was hopeful that my own process might connect and help people going through similar hardships.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
To be able to see grief through new perspectives. To have a better understanding of the grievance of a relationship.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
Grieving a loved one is something we will all go through at some point. But we rarely talk about the struggle of grieving someone who is still alive. How to navigate our grieving while dealing with the people who are in between. The struggle of the main protagonist is to make visible something that no one wants to talk about.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
It actually started with a song I wrote about the subject of grief. Then I wanted to write a story around that song like a genesis of it.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
I received feedback from people connecting with the same struggles. They went through heartbreaks and usually see their story from a certain angle. It allowed them to relate but also understand it.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
What surprised me is that many people had a very different understanding of the film. And their interpretation of it was as valid as my initial intention. It allowed me to see the story from another angle.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
Reaching curious minds that are open to being surprised and are willing to support independent filmmaking.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
I am looking for distribution, press, and buyers to allow the film to reach a broader audience.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
This film was supposed to be Halyna Hutchins' next project after Rust. After the tragedy, we wanted to make that film exactly how she envisioned it to honor her memory and for the audience to experiment with her vision and visuals. We hope that.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Is grief only valid when the person is physically gone?
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
We are currently developing a new short film named Rattled. It is a dark comedy about the pursuit of perfection and control that comes with deadly consequences.
