Lost Visibility
Maybe they weren't as close as they thought they were. Three friends share intimate dreams that bring their secrets to reality.
Interview with Writer/Director/Producer Kelly Needleman
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
I had the idea for the film when I created a short movie about lucid dreams in the summer of 2018. I wanted to create a feature-length film that incorporated teenage relationships that develop into deeper life experiences through shared lucid dreams.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
I hope my film 'Lost Visibility’ will provoke a discussion about the power of our dreams.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
I feel that everyone has a curiosity about the meaning of dreams. Why do we have them and what do they mean? Lucid dreams are when one is conscious of being in a dream state.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
I have been fortunate to have received notes from 10 script supervisors on the project. They are intrigued by the concept and the visual impact of the setting. The script has won over 5 prestigious awards from film festivals under the category of "Best Feature Screenplay".
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
I went through 11 rewrites to make the best possible script. I took into consideration all the constructive criticism I received for my final draft.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
To showcase my story and upcoming project to a wider audience.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
We are still in pre-production and fundraising. The goal is to obtain buyers and distribution.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
Since I am an indie filmmaker, with a limited budget, I am hoping that my story will reach people through vehicles such as yours and other social media to encourage support for other independent filmmakers.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Have you ever had a lucid dream?
Would you like to add anything else?
Thank you so much for having me and telling my story on your amazing website.
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
I will be creating a documentary film about my travels to Patagonia in the spring of 2019.
