Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
The story has been with me for a long time. In times of social media, how do you find someone for real? Someone to be with? How do you know that person is the right one when you're only a swipe away from the next? I wanted to investigate that feeling of being so close to love and then throw it away again hoping to find something better.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
Foggy Days gets really really close. It brings you back to memories and feelings you thought where stored away forever. It's a modern love story in a time-triggered by social media where nothing is good enough anymore.
Clara has Peter on short dial. Peter is deeply in love. At least we think he is. Together they are drawn into a world where love is a currency to feed their own ego. Where anxiety of missing out is more important than the life in front of us. Foggy Days is a painfully recognizable story that ends when you need an answer the most.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
It's really about who we are and who we want to be in the eyes of others. It's about love as a way of showing off, as a way to feed the own ego instead of actually get to know another person on the inside. True love disguised as confirmation. Personal theme is - what happens if you focus on yourself ignoring everybody else?
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
The core has been the same. Two characters trying to find love in a time where love has lost its power.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
I'm very thankful for the way Foggy Days has been received. Audiences have identified strongly with the characters and their struggle to find love. There has been a lot of nervous laughters at screening and messages through social media. The film ends in a bit of un-expected way stirring up a lot of questions about what's going to happen to the characters.
Then there have been a couple of nice reviews.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
Yes. I want to make people care about the story, about the characters, about their destiny like every other writer/director. For me, the process is about changing the story all the way to the last day of post-production. By then I don't know anything. Is this good? Will this be my last film?
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
I want people to see the work the team behind Foggy Days has put down. I've worked on this project for two years. Now I want the film to find its audience and hopefully, it will fly away.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
I believe Foggy Days is a good film. Now it needs a push to reach out. For it would be great to get in contact with sales agents, buyers, film festival directors and journalist. They have the power to make it happen.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I would like people to watch the film and rethink the way we use social media och treat each other.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
How can we change the way we live our everyday life before social media kills true love?
Would you like to add anything else?
Thank you so much for believing in our work. Foggy Days is the first short film that I've written, directed and financed. It has sparked something inside. My longtime goals are to make a feature and/or a series.
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
Right know Martin Sandin is working on a short piece about a man escaping to the family cabin trying to avoid a breakdown, to suddenly find himself in the middle of fighting for his existence trying to figure out who he is, what it all means. It’s a surreal story investigating the inner demons that haunt us all, threatening to overthrow what we believe.
