Breathing

Nature brings us together.

Interview with Director/Editor Makino Hayashi

Congratulations! Why did you make your film?

I love nature and I'm a dancer. A lot of dance performances tends to be shown in theaters. It's on stage, in dark places with sets, lighting and costume. When I start choreographing, I always want to perform outside. Nature is the background, the sun is lighting and the ground becomes the stage. I feel free and unlimited. There is a different feeling of beauty. And capturing that with film and play with clips can make things go farther. And be able to reach out to more people and share it.

Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?

I want to share the feeling of the beauty between nature and human through this film.

How do personal and universal themes work in your film?

Because I'm connecting human with nature. It is personal and universal.
