Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
CATHERINE: We wanted to collaborate on a project and create something that had a strong message and tone. It defiantly wasn’t a small feat with the large crew, remote location, child actor and gun use.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
CATHERINE: We’re hoping to evoke questioning and debate. We don’t necessarily have a point of view that’s presented through the themes of the film but hope that audiences do.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
HOLLY: The themes explored in The Hunt are that of equality and love.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
HOLLY: Catherine and I worked on the script for around 6 months, doing different drafts. It’s tricky when you’re creating an alternative world, like in The Hunt. There’s a lot to set up.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
CATHERINE: Positive, thought provoking.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
CATHERINE: It’s been as expected.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
CATHERINE: It’s great to further the discussion around the themes presented and highlight Aussie female directors.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
HOLLY: We are hoping to play at a few more festivals here and worldwide.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
HOLLY: To get people to think about the current state of inequality and for people just to enjoy the film. At its heart it is a love story and that’s a universal theme everyone can relate to.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
HOLLY: I think the premise alone sparks discussion.
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
HOLLY: My animated adult comedy animation ‘Bonnie the Elephant’ is due for release this year.
CATHERINE: I’ve just finished two short comedies and have a a series in development (psychological thriller).
