Fundraising - Turnover
A disgruntled cafe manager hires a crew of misfits to run the owners business into the ground, but instead they save his life.
Interview with Writer/Director/Producer Linda Palmer
Congratulations! Why are you making your film?
I love stories that have socially-relevant messages, and this one in particular deals with not judging people and discovering what being a family is really about.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
This is a heartwarming story that will make you laugh and cry. It has a very positive message during a time that is really difficult in our country right now.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
I wrote the original script and then brought in a co-writer (Laree' Griffith) who I had worked with in the past. She has really elevated the characters and scenes and made them very special.
Many people have commented that there is not one weak character in this story. As we have cast the roles, I have reached out to the actors and taken their input as well. It definitely is an interesting recipe for relationships.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
The screenplay was a finalist in the Broad Humor Festival and a semi-finalist in the Creative World Awards competitions.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
We are hoping to spread the news about our film as we head into production this August. It will release early in 2019.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
People interested in seeing it, film festival directors, sales agents and journalists would be awesome! They can learn more here: https://fromtheheartproductions.networkforgood.com/projects/47652-feature-films-turnover.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
We are planning on doing fundraiser events through National Down Syndrome Society and Tugg.com during the week of our films premiere. After that, we are taking it to film festivals for a year and utilizing Distribber.com if we haven't acquired a distribution deal. Ultimately, we are giving back 5% of the film profits to NDSS and ARC.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Everyone deserves a chance to live and work like anyone else. Why are those opportunities less frequent for people with disabilities or those who need a second chance?
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
I'm also working on an anti-poaching/anti-trophy hunting action/adventure franchise called 'Cat Dexx' about a female ex-soldier hunting poachers in Africa, 'Tarantino' style! More info at CatDexxFranchise.com
