Watch Life In The Doghouse on Prime Video
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
I met Danny and Ron when I adopted my second rescue dog from them. When I saw how they approached dog rescue, I knew that their story could have an impact on audiences around the country and I wanted to share that story.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
Anyone who loves animals should watch this film because you will be entertained, moved and motivated to make the right decisions when it comes to animals. Audiences will have a heart-warming experience spending 80-minutes with Danny and Ron.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
Every film has some personal connection to me. I tend to like inspiring stories and inspiring stories are universally appreciated.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
The film evolved from a story about a rescue into a story about Danny & Ron and their personal life story.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
We have had very positive feedback from audiences and especially from rescues and shelters.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
No, I am just grateful that I was able to put them on the screen in a way for everyone to see what I see when I look at their lives.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
The more exposure the film gets, the greater impact the film will have on the lives of abandoned and unwanted dogs around the country.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
Since the film is being released on-demand, we need people around the country to come on board as movie captains to bring the film to theaters near them. They can do so at www.lifeinthedoghousemovie.com.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I hope that this film creates national awareness of the overcrowding of animal shelters and encourages people to adopt animals in shelters instead of buying them, which then continues to fuel the puppy mill engine. The main solution to over-population is spaying and neutering.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Would you consider adopting and not shopping for a dog?
Would you like to add anything else?
I will be donating all of my proceeds from the film to dog rescue charities around the country, so the more successful the film is, the more money goes back to rescue. Thank you very much for taking the time to share the film and its message.
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
I AM WE, a feature documentary about dissociative identity disorder (in post-production), and PAARI, a feature documentary about a police assisted addiction and recovery program that is helping combat the opioid epidemic (pre-production).
