Interview with Writer/Director/Producer Tysen Knight
Watch The Art Of Hustle: Street Documentary here:
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
I made The Art Of Hustle: Street Documentary to showcase me as an Artist. After watching several art documentary on Netflix. I got the bright idea that I could reach a wider audience with film than with just the artwork.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
What I want the audience to take away from my film is the growth from street artist to actual gallery artist. I want the viewer to take that journey with me and feel a part of that journey. I also want to educate people about the positive side of street art and graffiti.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
Art is universally broken into categories Fine, Abstract and etc.. but all Art has one thing in common “Love of creation” that’s the personal connection that defines Art. That’s the core message of my film.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
The film has evolved from a small idea about street art to a showcase of all different artists from various backgrounds.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
The feedback has been overwhelming positive. I’m getting people interested in street art who would never usually been interested in graffiti. More people are being educated on the positive side of street art.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
I was surprised by the feedback and support. I challenged my own point of view on street art. I thought people would shun my art form. But I was wrong. It was embraced but not without questions and concerns.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
I want people to be educated on street art as a respected art form. Also to understand why Street artist create the way they do.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
I would like Distributors to come onboard to reach a world wide audience. To educate about street art.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
As a filmmaker you want your film to have a huge impact and changes lives. Educate and inspire. That’s the core of message of my film.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Is Graffiti and Street Art a crime? The only crime is not being able to create. Art is Love.
Would you like to add anything else?
Just Be Inspired and Create from a place of love and positivity.
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
Right now I’m working on a homeless artist documentary. Following three homeless artists and there journey to create art to make money to eat and survive.
