Congratulations! Why did you make your film (web series)?
Because I love creating female characters and saw a need for more complex women in film and television.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
It's very true to life, the characters are interesting to watch, and the show will make you laugh and think.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
The show is both personal and universal because we've all been teenagers, and have had to navigate difficult adult situations either at home or out in the world at a young age. As a young woman in the current cultural climate, it's especially confusing, and I love showing that struggle among the characters.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
The characters and storylines have evolved immensely since the beginning. I try to reveal more about the characters in every episode, so that the audience can empathize with them.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
Mostly positive and some constructive criticism. The series isn't for everyone, but I hope that when audiences watch it, they get something out of it.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
It hasn't really surprised me, but it's definitely challenged me in a sense.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
The more people who see the series, the better! I'm hoping to grow my female audience as that is who the series is geared towards.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
All of the above! We are actively seeking distribution and a wonderful Producer who can help us pitch a full length series to streaming services.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
A positive one. I want people to think about what they're watching, and feel like they've gotten something from it when the credits role. It's definitely not a show that you can watch on the toilet.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
What challenges do you face as a female millennial in the current cultural climate?
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
I'm working on writing a 30 minute LGBT drama Pilot about 20-something's to pitch to streaming services, and two feature scripts.

About the writer, director and producer:
An Atlanta native, Skyler's love of all things film and television, and her interest in creating complex, layered, female characters, started at an early age. After being accepted into Columbia College Hollywood in 2007, she made the move to Los Angeles. Many opportunities followed, including internships in Casting and Production at CBS Studios ("The Young and the Restless"), ABC Studios ("Grey's Anatomy, "Scandal", "Prime Suspect"), Colbert Mento Casting ("Step Up 3D, "Warm Bodies", "Destination Wedding"), and casting several student films for Columbia College Hollywood.
After graduation, she went on to work in commercials at Prime Casting, cast short films, and created the award-winning, dramedy web series, Reckless Juliets. The series follows four teenage girls as they navigate their way through high school and womanhood, and touches on themes such as mental illness, suicide, LGBTQIA characters, and the complexity of female friendships. The series has gone on to win awards at festivals like First Glance Philadelphia Film Festival, Best Shorts Competition, KAPOW Intergalactic Film Festival, and SoCal Creative and Innovative Film Festival.
Currently she is working on writing and directing the rest of the first season (and seeking distribution) for Reckless Juliets, prepping to shoot a short film about domestic violence that she wrote and will be directing in the Spring starring Shawn Kathryn Kane and Dylan John Seaton, and will be directing new episodes of the web series, Crystal, starring and created by Crystal Correa.
