The On Channel - June's Baby Shower
When Barry's mistress shows up pregnant to his baby shower celebration and things take a bad turn, June will learn the true meaning of "When it rain, It pours"
Interview with Writer/Director/Producer Kathryn L. Scurry
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
To challenge myself after taking a major blow in the pastry and music industry. I used writing as an escape and several scripts later I'm still going strong.
Why should I watch this film?
I'm glad you asked. June's Baby Shower is a film that shows the ugly side of infidelity and the damage it causes not only to the parties involved but the children. It has a diverse cast of great actors who put their emotions behind the film to bring it to life.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
I believe in the personal code of karma and in this film the character Barry gets a major dose of it.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
The script has won "Gold" with the Royal Wolf Film Awards and Official Coronet Selection with Queen Palm International Film Awards.
The movie has received a lot of positive feedback with the ending words of Wow.....I didn't see that ending coming.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
This is a review from the Blast Off Film Festival: "It certainly didn't go in the direction we thought it might, and that's a good angle for any film !". (Blast Off Film Festival, Rowan Sutherland, M.F.A., Festival Director)
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
I was very surprised being that I am a first time filmmaker.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
Networking and Collaborations. As a first time film maker not only do I want to improve on creating great content, I want to learn from the best and have a place to find great resources.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
All of the above.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I would like this film to not only teach but inspire others to let them know that "You may be bent, But you are not broken"
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
What is your first project about and when will it be finished?
Would you like to add anything else?
I would like to thank you for responding and giving me the opportunity.
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
"Your Wrong My Right", "The Cast Rejects" (Nominated for Best Comedy) Screenplay Awards Festival and Cuffed.
