Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
Thank you. After writer Kenny Young and producer Phil James had an unexpected and heartbreaking encounter with a real dog that was destined to fight to the death, they were inspired to tell a story that gave a voice to these dogs.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
Because you will experience an entire catharsys. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll get pissed off, and most importantly, you'll be inspired to make a difference.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
It's a theme of "faith". Believing in yourself and believing you can make a change. Living in these times, we feel that's a theme that everyone can connect with.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
Honestly, it evolved from a "script" into an actual "cause." It's transcended what we initially intended. We're just honored and humbled to be a part of it.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
The feedback has been absolutely amazing. It seems to have really struck a chord in people. Literally, people from around the world have been reaching out to help spread the word.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
It both surprised and challenged us. We were surprised that people responded like they have. We feel challenged (and inspired) to use this film to make a real difference.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
A fantastic opportunity to spread the word about the film and the cause. We're so grateful to even be acknowledged by www.wearemovingstories.com.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
ANYONE that can help take the message to the world. At this point, we need journalists, film festivals, animal lovers, activists, film-lovers, animation enthusiasts, and everyday people to help build awareness by spreading the word on "Chance."
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
Our goal is to take the message worldwide. Transcend our expectations.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
"Is dogfighting really that big of an issue?"
Would you like to add anything else?
Can't say enough, we are very grateful for this opportunity.
What are the key creatives developing or working on now?
We're currently developing another animated film that will tackle another "cause" in a very entertaining way.
Interview: July 2017
