IFS Film Festival - Wet Dreams: One Woman's Chance at Touching Gold
Wet Dreams follows the remarkable story of a young athlete, Emily, and her coach, Kassie, as they train to compete in the obscure sport, Leisure Diving. Wet Dreams chronicles the duo’s unbridled enthusiasm and unfaltering hope that one day their sport will become recognized by the powers that be and they’ll finally have a chance to compete for gold in the Olympics.
Interview with Writer/Producer Emily Bell

Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
Thank you! Wet Dreams came about when I was trying to get some fun new pictures for my Facebook profile. I asked my brother to take pictures of me jumping in our parents' hotel pool (they were visiting from Minnesota at the time). We were having a blast and it occurred to me it would make a fun short film. I asked my good friend Kassie Thornton if she'd produce and star in it with me and to my delight she said yes. She reached out to her friend Darren Coyle who became our Director and Editor, and from there the film became a reality.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
The film isn't just about an amusing premise, it's about the relationship that forms between two friends who take their dream so seriously, they have no concept of how they may appear to the outside world.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
The Universal theme of this film centers around the dedication to a dream, despite what others may think. The personal theme is about Emily and Coach Kassie's friendship.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
The original script for Wet Dreams was just an outline and a few lines of suggested dialog. Once we started filming, the story began to develop depth and specificity as we improvised to fill in the gaps. It was a real team effort: everyone was welcome to pitch in their ideas and suggestions.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
People have told us they've watched it multiple times, finding something new to laugh at with each viewing. It's really rewarding to discover that people are enjoying something that was so much fun to make.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
The feedback has made me realize that a project doesn't have to be difficult to be good.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
It's a privilege to have Wet Dreams listed amongst so many talented filmmakers and their projects. We hope people find the premise of Wet Dreams amusing and check us out at our next film festival (coming soon) and/ or on the web when we have our online premiere!
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
Film festivals, distributors, and journalists are all welcome!
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
We just want to make people laugh!
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
What dream would you pursue if you had no doubts about your talent and potential for success?
What are the key creatives developing or working on now?
