Awareness Film Festival - Rooted in LOVE

A day-in-a-life of an organic farmer, educator and restaurateur on a crusade to save our most precious resource...our children.

Interview with Writer/Director Jody McNicholas

Congratulations! Why did you make your film?

For years, I’ve watched in awe as Micah created her countless projects to better the Taos, New Mexico community, Her uncompromising dedication to educating our youth in Taos County and beyond makes Micah a true hero and a role model. Her dedication and love is what keeps a filmmaker like me doing what I do.

Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?

Healing of the earth and our bodies starts with community, and supporting the economic well-being of farmers and the nutrition and education of children at the local, grassroots level is the first step.

How do personal and universal themes work in your film?

Concerns over GMO’s, the health of our kids and the well-being of local farmers in Taos county are issues not unique to Taos, NM.  GMOs in some form currently exist in 75% of conventional-processed foods worldwide.

Rooted in LOVE

What type of feedback have you received so far? The feedback has been positive.

Rooted in LOVE has been the official selection in Film Festivals in Favara, Italy,  San Francisco, New Mexico and now at the Awareness Film Festival in Los Angeles.  Folks seem to feel inspired by the films message.

What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?

My hope is that others will feel inspired to duplicate what Micah is doing in their own communities.

Would you like to add anything else?

It’s an honor to highlight the goodness in the world through sharing the life and passions of ‘Farmer Micah’ in Rooted in Love.

Rooted in LOVE

What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?

I have a new film out “Retirement Planning” a short comedy about an intergalactic social worker who arrives at a retirement planning office. It’s my first film outside the documentary world. Retirement Planning received a “Merit of Awareness Award” by the Awareness Film Fest.  It’s screening at the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival October 20th and 22nd this month for its World Premiere.
