Congratulations! Why did you make your film?

I was drawn to Calder's philosophy about taking whatever resources you have at your disposal and making something you love. As an indie filmmaker that's often working with a DIY mentality, this was something I could really relate to.

Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?

Anyone that wants to get inspired and needs a little push to pursue their goals--whether creative or not--should give this film a watch.

How do personal and universal themes work in your film?

This film has a universal theme about recognizing how ephemeral life (and art) is and then deciding to make the most of it.

How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?

This started as a class project and evolved into a series that has spanned years.

What type of feedback have you received so far?

Lots of people really like Calder and his spirit, in addition to his art. But I also think this film acts as a mirror to whatever's going on in a specific viewer's own professional and/or artistic struggle at the time of viewing.

Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?

Feedback is something every filmmaker has to figure out how to use productively. When you're working with limited resources, it's always difficult to make everyone happy. However, I think if you're true to yourself as a storyteller and try and live with a humanist spirit, the only failure you can have is giving up.

What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?

I just want to share this film and Calder's story with as many people as possible.

Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?

All of the above.

I hope this film inspires people to recognize life is fleeting and to make the most of it.

Is Calder's art made more powerful and impactful as a result of its temporary nature?

What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?

We are currently trying to put together a distribution strategy for a recently completed short film about a Korean adoptee/exotic dancer that's trying to reconnect with her birthmother. It's called "Dear Mother".
