#crowdfunding - Of A Grateful Nation
PTSD is an endeavor that is often dismissed by the masses because it is often a path walked alone.
Interview with Director Adam J Reeb
Congratulations! Why are you making your film?
I am making this film because I have lost friends to PTSD related suicide. Military PTSD isn’t all combat related. I have friends that have endured trauma and suffer dearly from it. We want to show the world what actually happens when there are no cameras around. What it is really like for the veteran who is suffering.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
We would ask that you watch this film to understand what it is our veterans have to go through when they return home from combat. The war doesn’t end when you leave the battlefield.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
Personal themes resonate very much within my film. I have interviewed several people and gathered their personal interactions with PTSD whether it be them suffering or someone they knew who suffered. The universal theme across my film is that when one of us falls, we all feel it.
The “One” domino that send the others falling. When one falls, we all feel it.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development and production?
What started out as a small story typed up on my iPhone notes app has evolved into a 19 page script. Myself, along with my team, have taken my idea and vision and created something that will stay with you long after you are finished watching it.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
We have receive positive feedback from our pitch video. Everyone who has seen it really enjoys it and are thankful towards us for what we are trying to accomplish.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
The feedback we have received only challenges us to make the best film possible with what we have. Everyone involved has high expectations for this film and if we were to deliver a subpar final product we'd only be letting down our fans and viewers.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
We are looking to expand our network and reach of our film by having it on we are moving stories. The wider our audience the more minds we can enter and, hopefully, prevent more veterans from taking their own lives.
Dominos are used to simulate soldiers standing in formation.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
Contributors to our crowdfunding campaign, journalists, anyone who can spread the word and message of our film.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
We want people to leave from watching our film to understand what we go through. We want people to reach out and help veterans. We want people to be available for veterans in a time of crisis.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
How can PTSD related suicide be stopped or prevented?
Would you like to add anything else?
I wouldn’t be able to make this film without my wonderful team of producers and writer. Ryan Hamlin, my director of photography and producer, Jonathan Ball, my writer. Jeff Reeb, my father and producer and all the local companies that have supported me and this film. Thank you.
Director Adam J. Reeb looking over the field of dominos lost in thought.
