Reach, Strive, Achieve

August 30, 2016 by Carmela Baranowska

A Costa Rican girl from a poor family nurtured an improbable dream about space travel, and despite the obstacles, made that dream come true.

Interview with Director Nasreen Alkhateeb

*

Congratulations! Why did you make your film?

Sandra Cauffman’s story is undeniably exceptional, and should be shared.

Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?

To be inspired, to push yourself as an individual, no matter what you are up against.

How do personal and universal themes work in your film?

Every person has felt like their dreams may not be attainable. What Sandra did was challenge herself, to break conventional boundaries.

How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development and production?

The writing was fleshed out over time, through a collaboration between Sandra and I. Sandra refined her words for a specific audience.

What type of feedback have you received so far?

The feeback has been extremely positive.

Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?

No.

What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?

By sharing our film, we aim to inspire the smallest voice, to believe that they are capable of evolving into whoever they want to be. No matter how out of reach their goals may seem.

Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?

festival directors, journalists

What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?

If this film can reach one youth, to inspire them to dream bigger, then we have accomplished our goal.

What are the key creatives developing or working on now?

Nasreen Alkhateeb is in preproduction on a short film, Into Silence, about a deaf minority female who overcomes human trafficking.
