Thodoris is a lonely 25-year-old who spends his days working out. When he signs up to a new gym, he meets Vicky, a sexy 30 year old trainer. He tries to claim her attention as he struggles with his shame, image and repressed libido.

Interview with Writer/Director Kostas Gerampinis

Congratulations! Why did you make your film?

Thank you. I write down script ideas all the time. Sometimes an idea acquires a life of its own and it forces me to make a film out of it.

How do personal and universal themes work in your film?

The film is about identity and image in an era dominated by social media and extreme fitness standards. At the time the script was written, there was a big debate regarding our nation's identity. A subject very complex for any country. The crisis heated up the debate about what are the distinctive elements that define what is "Greek" and what is not. My conclusion was that we don't know who we really are and maybe that applies to most nations out there. I eventually wrote a script about a young person who doesn't know who he is and is in search of an identity.

How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development and production?

There were a few drafts before I started rehearsing with the actors. The dialogues were fine-tuned during the pre-production and the final draft was written a few days before we started shooting.

What type of feedback have you received so far?

It was screened in the Greek festivals and the feedback from the audience and the press was very positive.

Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?

I got more or less the feedback I was waiting for regarding the audience's understanding of the film's theme. But what surprised me most was that they really embraced the humour in what seems to be a dark drama about a lonely person.

What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?

Exposure to foreign audiences.

Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?

Everybody is welcome.

What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?

I would like people not to be judgemental of the protagonist’s choice of path regarding his quest for identity, as it is very easy to reject someone’s struggle when vanity is involved. From my point of view, his drama is universal and people just refuse to admit it on a personal level.

What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?

“How much of yourself do you see in the main character?”.

Would you like to add anything else?

I'd like to say that, now, we need stories more than ever.

What are the key creatives developing or working on now?

Almost everyone is working in the TV commercials business. Me and my producer are developing my first feature film.
