Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
MOTH was created to be a conduit to the voiceless! Bringing a voice to the voiceless.
M.O.T.H. is an acronym for Matters of The Heart!!!!
M.O.T.H. is a psychological thriller feature film, about a woman named Linda Blake who grew up exclusively in the foster care system. After a horrific childhood, Linda systematically tracks down everyone who ever hurt her and makes them pay dearly. Despite extreme adversity and trauma, MOTH shows us that it is never too late to heal. For Linda, while it is too late to fix the broken cycles of destruction and abuse from the people entrusted to care for her, it is not too late to learn to love and start anew!
Our children are our future. What are we doing to make sure they have some normalcy in their lives? We talk about incarceration, mental illness, anxiety and so much more. What are we doing to stop or rehabilitate our future?
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
You should watch this film because it’s about the Foster Care System and the long term abuse our children, our future endure. We deserve to know, the children deserve the help and we all need to grow together.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
Beautifully! Linda’s Personal abuse in foster care had many universal solutions including rehabilitation, love of self and love of family.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
The more I present my film, the more MOTH is taking a life of its own and touching people’s lives that hopefully will lead to changes in the Foster Care System and Family Unite.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
I’ve got a lot of incredible feedback but the one that stood out to me the most was when a Professor told me after watching my film that she had a foster student that was moved to 10 different homes in one year. (Can you imagine never knowing where you are going to be uprooted, not knowing if you are going to see your siblings again and not having or getting that nutritional love that we so desperately need and want to have some normalcy in your life).
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
Both, the feedback has surprised and challenged me.
It has blown me away on how many people come from the foster care system, how many can relate to it, how deep and systematic is the long term abuse, the work that needs to be done to rehabilitate and how love really does conquer all.
I have also gotten incredible feedback that challenges me to make important changes and corrections that were needed.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
I’m looking to amplify the messages... To bring changes to the Foster Care System, To save our children, our family united, to deal with mental illnesses. To see, feel and learn together on deeply rooted this abuse really is and what it takes to change, love and heal.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
All of the above.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I would like MOTH to awaken people and change lives. Once we know, we are responsible for our children, our future.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Why the fosterCare System? Why the name Linda Blake?
Would you like to add anything else?
Social Justice is everything... bringing awareness and providing solutions.
We have currently acquired as our music supervisor and director, multi-award-winning recording artist Shawn “ETCETERA” McClain, to provide an amazing star-studded platform of source music and an award-winning soundtrack to match that of his prior project Paying Mr McGetty.
