Anecdotals
While the vaccine debate grows more divided, those with adverse reactions get stuck in the middle. A compassionate exploration of the nuanced vaccine debate.
Interview with Director/Producer Jennifer Sharp
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
I am Jennifer Sharp, the filmmaker for Anecdotals and I had an adverse reaction to the Pfizer vaccine. While seeking medical help, I found myself immersed in support groups with many others who were also suffering. I was surprised to discover that we were censored from telling our stories, not just by social media, but also by family and friends. An ugly political divide transformed the topic of adverse reactions into a hateful battleground, and those of us who needed help and empathy were stuck in the middle.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
Everyone has been affected by the COVID vaccine debates and many of us have lost families and friends over differing POVs. We need to get better at respecting diverse opinions and disagreeing without fighting. Anecdotals is a big step in opening the conversation and creating awareness, and will bring people together.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
Although the root of the movie is my personal journey through my adverse reaction and the personal and political climate I have found myself in. It transcends the personal into the very real universal discussions surrounding health freedom, personal health, and corporate/governmental reaches.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
This is a documentary, so the story evolved through interviews with COVID vaccine injured people and medical professionals.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
This movie is changing people's lives. Close friends and family who have argued over this issue are finding common ground and empathy through watching this. Also, many people with vaccine injuries are finally seeing themselves reflected publicly and that can make all the difference in helping to get through this battle.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
This feedback was exactly what I had hoped for.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
I want everyone to watch this movie and open their eyes to the world of vaccine injury, and then share it with people in their lives. I believe this is the beginning of a very complex and nuanced discussion that we are not having in our divided political echo chambers. It is free online, but coming to the in-person screenings is a great opportunity for discussions since the filmmaker and other medical professionals will be there.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
I need journalists to be brave enough to cover this movie and help bring awareness.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I want this movie to bring people together and open minds.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Do you know anyone who has been injured by the COVID vaccines?
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
My fictional comedy feature film, Una Great Movie, is also available to stream on Amazon Prime and YouTube

About the writer, director and producer:
JENNIFER SHARP is an award-winning director, writer, editor, and graduate of NYU, Tisch School of the Arts. She has directed 2 narrative feature films which accumulated over 30 awards between them, and achieved critical acclaim. Her narrative feature, Una Great Movie, is streaming on Amazon Prime. She is a believer that Art has the power to change the world, and that artists have a responsibility to facilitate that change through sharing their truths. After having an adverse reaction to the COVID vaccine, she found herself mandated out of society and cast aside by friends and family. At that moment, she believed that it was her responsibility as an artist to tell the stories that no one was talking about. She picked up her camera, and created, Andecdotals,—a compassionate film exploration of the nuanced vaccine debate.
