Interview with Writer/Director Amir Ali Sisipour
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
Because I want to know myself better.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
Hope the film revives your basic questions about yours
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
The first idea was about a mother and son who live inside the shadow of people. And because that was no one to produce that idea, in the 1-year reprinting it changed and became about mother and son who drink the shadow of people.
Because we had a short time in the shoot, we had to change many things in the script on the scene. And the changes and evolving are just not finished until the end of editing.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
Much of the feedback was about the strange tone and atmosphere, they said it is a strange movie. Many like the idea. Much hate the violence.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
Yes. Much of the feedback was about the main idea they found in the film, and many of them were fascinating. Because they were completely different from my point of view.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I love people, enjoy the tone and atmosphere
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
The boy was the shadow of the girl, or he was inside the shadow of her?
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
I am working every day to gather material for the feature one with the idea of Shalal and writing a completely different one with another fairly tale from my hometown, and I love to make it soon.
