Coven Film Festival 2019 - Come on In
"Come On In" peeks into the life of Beverly, an upbeat woman hell bent on having a meaningful relationship. But as she talks on the phone with an unknown caller, we slowly learn that Beverly isn’t all that she seems.
Interview with Director/Producer/Editor Jody Lauren Miller
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
I made this film because my favorite writer and my favorite actress both agreed to do the project! #nobrainer.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
Two words: Jen. Ponton. The clever, slowly built punchline is executed perfectly by Jen. It's fun to experience.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
No extreme evolution occurred. A few cut-downs to the original script, but once we had it ... we shot it!
What type of feedback have you received so far?
We were very excited to win Best In Show & Best actress awards at Bluestocking Film Fest. We were screened in the UK at the Unrestricted View Horror Film Fest and won a runner up accolades at NYWIFT's Short Films Fest in the Best Thriller category. Now we are here at Coven and it is such an honor to be among these amazing films. That's the best feedback we could ask for!
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
Nope. We are a fun short film that is a kick to watch. Nothing more, nothing less.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
We shoot to share and this is an amazing platform to do so.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
We just want people to enjoy the film and appreciate the execution.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
"Who the F&#$ is she talking to?" ... and "Is the dog ok?"
Would you like to add anything else?
Thank you for taking the time to watch our film.
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
