Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
With the medical system failing her for years Adrianne needed to look at alternative options as she struggled with lifelong depression, anxiety, and addiction (including opioid addiction). Psychedelics can be scary, fun, spiritual, therapeutic, and unpredictable - Dosed touches on it all as we follow Adrianne from uncertain beginnings taking magic mushrooms for the first time in an attempt to turn her life around. Everyone knows someone who's affected by mental illness or addiction so this story is relevant to every single human on the planet to varying degrees. Dosed has also been chosen as one of the "must see" and "top films to watch" by several movie reviewers at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival and so far has been selected to four film festivals around the world (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Melbourne, and another city to be announced soon)! All cities, tickets, and showtimes for film festivals are available at www.dosedmovie.com
What type of feedback have you received so far?
Our screenings so far have played to sold-out audiences and received ovations. People are interested to see psychedelics being used in this context and they're moved, inspired, and empowered by Adrianne's journey. The reviews on IMDb are worth reading - although be warned, they include spoilers. It's still a controversial topic though, somewhere there's a pharmaceutical executive losing sleep over the idea of a non-addictive medicine that can't be patented hurting their company's bottom line...
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
Dosed documentary is for a mainstream audience because it touches on many hot topics affecting millions of people, so for anyone interested in helping amplify the message please follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter - all social media accounts are @dosedmovie - we love hearing from you! We're also interested in chatting with people in the industry, from distributors to journalists, who'd like to help share this important message with the world.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
With mounting evidence that psychedelics are remarkably effective at treating mental illness and addiction, and that they're non-toxic and non-addictive, shouldn't people be allowed safe access to use psychedelics (or any substance) if it could help people live happier lives and even end the current mental health and addiction crisis?
Would you like to add anything else?
We'd like to thank some of the people who helped us navigate this world of psychedelics. We were fortunate to meet and interview, or receive counsel from, people like: Rick Doblin, Paul Stamets, Rosalind Watts, Gabor Maté, Ingrid Pacey, Dennis McKenna, Mark Haden, Robin Carhart-Harris, Aubrey Marcus, James Fadiman, James Jesso, Paul Austin, and Kilindi Iyi. Even more wonderful souls helped us navigate the therapeutic use of psychedelics with Adrianne more closely: Garyth Moxey, Mark Howard, Trevor Millar, Geoff Acres, Patrick Fishley, Robyn Howard, Elizabeth Bast, Chor Boogie, Maud Lundestad... these are the kindest people imaginable and they've dedicated their lives to helping others get over hard addictions, heal from trauma, and just generally live better lives. It was not an easy journey and so much respect and gratitude goes out to everyone, thank you.
