Citizen Jane Film Festival 2018 - Icebergs
Life is a pain. Or a least a minor persistent ache.
Interview with Director Eirini Vianelli
Watch Icebergs here:
Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
Thank you! This was my CalArts thesis film. I’ve always been fascinated with everyday human behavior and wanted to explore it.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
To laugh and be more compassionate with your neighbor.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
Both themes are trying to take themselves less seriously through this film.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
Initially the script had 35 scenes. While still in preproduction I realized that it was too much and cut them to 13. During the editing the order of the scenes changed drastically. I also decided to intercut between them.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
A good mix of good and bad.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
Definitely!
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
Get more feedback, meet new people and possibly seek future collaborations.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
Anybody who is interested in the film!
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I would like for people to like it!
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Why animation? The film has travelled in film festivals and has been shown among live action films and that is a common question I get. I find it sparks interesting conversations as to what it means to observe human behavior through puppets.
Would you like to add anything else?
Thank you very much for this opportunity and for all the great work you do at wearemovingstories
What other projects are the key creatives developing or working on now?
I am currently developing a script for a new short film.
