POWFest - The Kara Morgan Show—“Dreams Come True"
Things had been going just fine for Kara Morgan and The Kara Morgan Show until the day her French-speaking paper doll alter ego shows up. Now Kara must choose to either silence this new strange voice or allow her to speak into her life and work.

Congratulations! Why did you make your film?
I made this film because an idea took root in me that wouldn’t go away. Normally I can clearly trace the origin of my creative ideas. This idea, however, came much more suddenly and mysteriously than any previous inspiration. It wasn’t until about two years after conceiving of the idea that I began to understand its meaning.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
My hope is that audience members will experience some of the joy and delight that I experience in creating my work.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
I believe that the most personal themes of my film can be universally understood. This story centers around a stop motion animated French-speaking paper doll version of myself. She represents a side of myself that I choose to ignore, that I fear to show to the world. The film investigates the layers of self-hood and the journey to the discovery of our true self. I believe this is the journey that we all share.
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development and production?
The script of this film evolved very little over the course of its development and production. The idea evolved quickly into a finished form and my job was to get it all on camera.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
It has been fun to observe audience reactions at various screenings of my film. It has been a joyous experience to hear laughter at specific points throughout the film.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
I have received some surprising feedback. Some viewer’s feedback has actually helped me to understand the initial idea for this unusual character, which at first was so enigmatic to me. My viewers have helped me to understand that Tiny Kara (the paper doll version of me) in her own very unusual way is teaching me how to be my truest self.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
The story of this film continues after the end of the film. I have created an episodic series based on the story and characters. I would love to gain a wider audience so as to expand my current production team and resources and to create it on a more visible platform.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
I need journalists to help widen the reach of my work and a production team to help me realize the episodic series I am currently undertaking.
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I would love the film to have a wide reach on the internet to gain a greater following for my episodic series.
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Is there a side of your personality that you knowingly suppress out of fear of what other people may think? What would it look like to incorporate the various aspects of our inner life into one whole? What are the key creatives developing or working on now?
What are you working on now?
I am currently in production for a longer film that expands the world and scope of the characters presented in “Dreams Come True”. In this film, Tiny Kara enters more deeply into my world and helps me rediscover my true voice.
