1. Congratulations! Why did you decide to make this film?

A Sydney Terrace is about the house my mum and aunty grew up in, in fact my 87 year old Aunty still lives there. It has been the epicenter of my mother’s side of family for generations. It's the only non renovated house in the street, and all the people who live in their 3.5 million dollar houses want my aunt to move out because her house brings down their prices..

But the history and love that our family has had in the house is worth more than any amount of money. My parents are no longer with us but I know my mother would’ve wanted me to do produce this short film.

2. Why is the film called A Sydney Terrace? Is it a particular or universal story?

Even though it is set around my family, this could be about many other old terraces in Sydney or Australia. In an age when profits from stylish home renovations mean everything, its a shame that we look at old dwellings as places with not much value.

3. What type of feedback have you received so far?

Its early days yet however, apart from the family sharing it far and wide, I have had interest from a producer that is interested in adapting this idea to a series to pitch to ABC

6. What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on this platform?

Even though I am over the moon about the success of Punks for West Papua, I would like to show people my diversity and how quick I can turn shorts like this around. It was 1 day shoot, 1 day for James Knight to write and record the voice and 1 day to edit.

7. Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify the message of this film?

8. What type of impact would you like this film to have?

I didn’t produce this film to ‘make an impact’ as such. It was done for my family. But now its complete I’m happy for the public to see it and hopefully appreciate our history rather then seeing dollar signs.

9. What’s a key question that will help spark a debate about this film?

Is love and history worth more than dollars?

10. What other films are you developing or directing now?

I have written, and directed a rather confronting short film about an ice addict. ‘Bad Jesus’ is based on a true story and deals with a society’s big issues, drug addiction, domestic violence and mental health issues. It is in the post production stage right now with a release date in July 2016.

11. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

I’d like to thank Carmela and the team at We Are Moving Stories. They have supported and inspired myself and other Independent film makers by giving us a platform to display our work and collaborate. It's easy to lose interest in film without the support of people like Carmela.
