Dawn of Hearts is a poetic science documentary that will show you your heart as you’ve never seen it before. Forget everything you’ve been told about your heart. Most of it is completely obsolete.
Interview with Writer/Director Benedikt Just
Congratulations! Why are you making your film?
Since I was a kid I was seeking to find the truth 'out there'. Meaning I was looking for answers to the classic questions of 'Who am I', 'What am I' and 'Why am I'. Over the course of several decades I looked into various paradigms and worldviews and only when I found one that put the heart and our emotions at the core of who, why and what we are I felt that I found 'it'. The answer that I was looking for. The answer that explained pretty much everything. Then I started to look into research and found that our heart is something complete different that what we were told since 200 years.
I think that if we further merge us with technology, for example by bringing nano tech with AI into our brains to enhance 'us' and that way supposedly steps into the next phase of our evolution we might sever the already thin thread that connects us with our hearts. And we might never find our way back, or at least, for a much longer time.
I believe it is our heart that holds the key to a future we all long for. And the evidence that I found supports this claim in some spectacular and mind-bending way. And I am making this film to invite everyone who is interested in life to look at our hearts, yourself and life itself in a completely new way.
Imagine I’m a member of the audience. Why should I watch this film?
You should watch this film if you feel that our current world is in a dire situation. If you feel that your personal, but also our 'global' world is not how it is supposed to be. If you feel that something essential is missing for your life to be 'complete' or more fulfilling. If you wonder how we are going to solve the multiple crises and how the next step in our human evolution might look like you will find some interesting and like never before seen or heard ideas.
How do personal and universal themes work in your film?
On a personal level we all have heard the cheese saying 'follow your heart'. And we all experience thoughts and feelings in our daily lives. What if your heart really does have a 'voice' an intelligence that goes far beyond what you can access with your mind? We long for our dreams but our mind tells us that it's just a dream and we have to deal with reality in this and that way. The result is that few people can truly say they live their dream.
Our current culture has devalued dreaming, heartfulness, emotions and feelings. The ideal is to be smart, unemotional and a go-getter. Male dominance, patriarchy, goes much deeper than the devaluation of women. It devalues anything yin, anything that has female qualities. It devalues being sensitive, empathic, a dreamer, heartful and soft. Our heart operates in fundamental different ways than our mind. Mind is the vehicle of madness and patriarchy. But just as our documentary will show that our heart is 'prior' or let's say first and deeper than our brain and mind, the archetypal feminine and woman are the ones that can give birth to live.
Man and mind can only create dead machineries. They cannot create life. Only women can do this. But both men and women have a heart. And this heart is what connects us, men and women, and all beings and all of creation. So why don't we explore our hearts to find out what role it plays in the natural harmony of this universe and in the context of bringing male and female both to their next level of interactivity?
How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?
Initially I worked on a film that was about a natural heart remedy that could disrupt the whole heart attack industry, but I already knew that I wanted to include the spiritual aspects of the heart as well. One and a half years into that project it turned out that it was not the right time to bring that topic to a larger audience, so I focused on what I was most excited about. The recent finding or rather delivery of evidence that our heart is not a pump and the effects that this revolutionary redefinition of our hearts could have not just on the medical world but also on our civilization.
What type of feedback have you received so far?
We are in pre-production so only few people have seen the project so far. Many people are very excited and believe this documentary might ignite a fresh discussion about the limitations of western mechanistic medicine and science.
Has the feedback surprised or challenged your point of view?
The feedback so far is in harmony with how I feel about this film.
What are you looking to achieve by having your film more visible on www.wearemovingstories.com?
I'd love to ignite a realization that our minds will not be enough to solve the problems we currently have in our personal or global world. We will have to explore the true nature and purpose of our hearts and learn how to develop its potential. Having your audience read about it on wearemovingstories.com will surely help with spreading this idea.
Who do you need to come on board (producers, sales agents, buyers, distributors, film festival directors, journalists) to amplify this film’s message?
We are still in pre-production with filming being scheduled for March 2018. At this time we are a tiny, tiny team. This means we are currently (Dec. 2017) looking for executive producers, sales agents, impact partners, buyers, distributors, film festivals and so on. Anyone who is intrigued by our film, please write me an email. I'd be more than happy to get to know you and discuss a potential collaboration!
What type of impact and/or reception would you like this film to have?
I'd love to see a widespread fresh discussion about how far our minds will get us. How important our minds are in relation to our emotions and intuition. And what role our mind and heart/emotion play in human consciousness. How emotions might not be a hindrance in 'spiritual' growth but actually the very key to perceiving reality beyond the limitations of our minds. And I'd love to see what people will think about the very 'simple' solution we present in our documentary that might solve all problems we currently have :-)
What’s a key question that will help spark a debate or begin a conversation about this film?
Now that we have scientific evidence that our heart is not a pump, what is its real purpose? Could it be that not with our brilliant minds, but with the undiscovered deeper potential of our hearts we will be able to create the kind of world we all long for?
Would you like to add anything else?
No one know what will happen when we really start to implement nano tech and AI into our brains like some thought leaders and researchers suggest. Do you feel that this is the natural next step in the evolution of humanity? Or will it be the last step and completely cut us off the chance to re-connect with our heart in a way that we discover our full potential as human beings. All spiritual cultures say that we have divine parents. Could it be that we need our hearts to realize the full truth of that statements and express our deeper divinity?
